CellTradein.com - Gave less than 1/3 quoted price, threatened to sue me

I sent CellTradein.com a used HTC Dash in pretty good condition. It's an old phone, it had a few nicks here and there, so I sent it in as Average condition. They quoted me $30. They sent me a USPS label, so I mailed it to them. A week later, I got a PayPal notice for $7 with the subject "Broken Phone Submitted." The phone I sent in was not broken in any way, shape, or form. I called their "support number" and e-mailed them. I got no response. After a week, I filed a complaint with the Chicago area BBB, where they are based. I sent them an e-mail informing them that I had reported them and they threatened to sue me for making "false complaints"! According to them, I violated their "user agreement" (which I never agreed to at all. It's not on their site and they didn't e-mail it to me) and sent them a different phone than the one I had agreed to send. Their C.O.O., Kenneth Haller, claimed that he had inspected it himself and that it was missing buttons. I had been using the phone right before I sent it to them as my primary phone and it had no missing or broken buttons. I asked him which specific buttons were broken, but he has since not responded. I told them I wanted the $23 from their quote or the phone returned. Mr. Haller said that the phone had probably already been parted out and if it hadn't, he would return it at my expense. Since it's been over a week since that time, I have to assume that it has been parted out and he has no intention of returning it or paying me the quoted price. They didn't even wait to hear from me before destroying my phone! I e-mailed him the same day I got the PayPal e-mail, so he must have known I wanted it back if I wasn't being given the quoted amount. This is horrible customer service, essentially stealing phones from people and giving them far less than the amount quoted. Stay away!

I wish I would have done more research on these crooks, but like some of these other people on this list I was in a rush and they quoted the highest prices.

The jerkoffs at Celltradein.com told me that the phones I sent them were different than what they quoted me for which was a complete lie. Don't do business with these guys unless you just want somewhere to send your phones to recycle them.

This company is full of *** I would never reccomend that anyone waste their time. I sent the my epic.4g, they said it was still connected to.my sprint acct.

Sprint said it wasnt. I asked them to return the device, they have not returned it. Their customer service line is disconnected and they are not.reponding to my emails.

I have filed a.complaint.with the BBB and plan to file a police report with their.local police department. For the love of god, DO NOT SELL YOUR PHONE TO.THESE PEOPLE!

Buyer beware. I sent a phone to them months ago and they claim it's still attached to my verizon account.

Verizon claims it's not. They stopped responding to emails when I asked them to return the phone (at my expense even). Their phone # listed online is a mailbox. I'm thinking I've been scammed here.

Stay away from this one folks. I'm filing a complaint the the Illinois attorney general's office and I will pursue options to get their website closed.

Sent these folks a IPhone 3G, 16 gb phone, charger, earphones, and 4 phone cases which UPS delivered on to them at 12:30pm on the 16th of May. Since then I have heard nothing from them and received no response to my e-mails.

I should have checked with BBB before doing business with these thieves, but was in a rush to complete the transaction. The other sites offered lower quotes which should have been a Red Flag that these guys/gals were crooks.

Learned my lesson, but being stubborn I am for spite taking out a law suite to go after these folks even though it may cost me 50 times what I was looking to get for the phone. See ya in court CellTradein.
